Muffin Tops, Skinny Jeans, and Proof I'm Getting Old

I have noticed over the past 10 years that jeans are getting lower in the waist while our waists seem to be expanding. This may or may not be the case, but it sure seems that way. I even see that they sell special shirts and waist bands to cover up the part of your body that jeans used to cover up. What I don't understand is why?
Not only are these types of pants extremely uncomfortable, causing you to constantly pull your pants up over your crack and be self conscious when you sit down, but they are extremely unattractive. Unless of course you are part of the 3% that actually don't own a muffin top.
And then of course there is the skinny jean epidemic. I call it an epidemic because they just look awful. Not only are we forced to see more muffin top, but now we get to see guys' muffin tops. Really? Since when was it cool for men to dress like women? After attending a festival at my daughter's school last week, my husband and I determined it was very difficult to tell between girls and boys these days. But I guess that is what the young kids are into these days....and this all makes me officially OLD.
REALLY??????

Old because I just don't understand or like what the kids wear these days and because I purposely seek out "mom jeans" when shopping for close. That's right. I search for the pants with the highest waist possible in the stores. I refuse to have my muffin top poking out. Even at my ideal weight, low cut jeans give me (and many others) a muffin top. I also refuse to hike my pants up all day long to cover up my butt crack. I am too old and lazy to worry about what part of me is hanging out when I sit down or stand up.
Moral of the story? I am old and love my "mom jeans". There really can't be anything done about this fashion trend so I can old conform to the alternative.
Maybe one day the "mom jeans" will be in style and I can be cool again. A girl can dream right?

  1. I want it to stop. I NEED IT TO STOP. Thankfully, my son is not interested in anything skinny. Boys look so stupid anymore. What happended to that awesome grunge look with manly jeans and flanels? But i don't love them for me either...i have 2 pairs, but i hate them. With the right (long, of course!) top and boots they are cute, but i hate hate HATE being uncomfortable. HATE.

  7. I completely AGREE with everything you posted here! It is one of my pet peeves! I keep asking myself, "when did I miss the memo that my "rolls" should be exposed"??? I can't believe anyone would think this is attractive!?!?!
Then, on to the way-tight skinny jeans...has any parent, who buys these for their daughters, stopped to think about the health of the "girl Parts"?? The tightness leaves no room for air and the constant rubbing...well...on our feet we call them BLISTERS.
